Jennifer Brawn Gittings and Jeannie Galioto have been colleagues and collaborators for over ten years
Ms. GALIOTO has over twenty years of experience as a freelance designer, working on television productions and commercials, music videos, industrial videos, film, and theatre, as well as fashion styling.
In addition to designing, Ms. Galioto is an in-demand lecturer and educator. She has taught at The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, UC Irvine, University of San Diego, San Diego State University, Palomar College, and The Arts Institutes. She was an invited lecturer at Costume Colloquium III – “Past Dress, Future Fashion” in Florence, Italy.
Ms. Galioto is also a specially trained milliner, who has created a staggering array of hats and headgear. Her millinery work has graced stages from San Diego to Broadway, and can be seen in New Line Cinema’s film: Drop Dead Gorgeous.
As an award-winning theatrical costume designer, her credits include productions for the San Diego Repertory Theatre, North Coast Repertory Theater, Mo'oleo Performing Arts Company, The Asian American Repertory Theatre, Ion Theatre Company, The History Theatre, The Guthrie Lab, Mixed Blood Theatre, and Shakespeare in the Park to name a few.
She holds an MFA in Costume Design from SDSU, and a BS in Fashion Design from University of Minnesota – Twin Cities.
Ms. GITTINGS has distinguished herself in the world of costume design, with a roster of private clients and multiple awards for her theatrical design work. Accolades include two San Diego Theatre Critics Circle Craig Noel Awards for Outstanding Costumes, the Beverly Hills/Hollywood NAACP Theatre Award for Best Costumes, and a Patté Award for Theater Excellence in Outstanding Costume Design. Ms. Gittings has been repeatedly recognized for Outstanding Achievement in Costume Design by Stage Scene LA, and was named “Designer of the Year” by the San Diego Reader in 2008.
Based in San Diego, Ms. Gittings has designed costumes for The Old Globe Theatre, La Jolla Playhouse, San Diego Repertory Theatre, Cygnet Theatre Company, North Coast Repertory Theatre, Ion Theatre Company, and Mo’olelo Performing Arts Company, among others. She is an associate artist at Diversionary Theatre, and the Resident Costume Designer and Design Ambassador for MOXIE Theatre.
Regionally, she has designed costumes for Crossroads Theatre Company, Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, The Lycian Centre, The Luna Stage, The Western Stage, and A Noise Within, where her work received nominations for Backstage Magazine’s prestigious Garland Award, and the LA Ticketholder Award.
She has also designed for many universities and colleges, including Princeton University, Rutgers Opera Company, NYU Film, University of San Diego, Southwestern College, Las Positas College, and the Thurgood Marshall School at UC San Diego. In addition, she has been a summer instructor at Hartnell College, a guest lecturer at Univeristy of San Diego, and a teaching assistant at Rutgers University.
Ms. Gittings holds an MFA in both Costume Design and Scenic Design from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, and a BA in Theatre Arts from UCLA.
