Introducing the Heritage Wedding Necklace

We had a delightful meeting today with Rhonda Haiston from Weddings of San Diego and Weddings of Coronado.  We just love her energy and enthusiasm.

The LEO DUO Heritage Wedding Necklace: something old becomes something new!

The LEO DUO Heritage Wedding Necklace: something old becomes something new!

Speaking of enthusiasm, we are thrilled to show you one of our newest jewelry pieces.  The LEO DUO Heritage Wedding Necklace is a modern mix of vintage jewelry.  Each Heritage Wedding Necklace is one-of-a-kind, incorporating elements from the bride's personal jewelry collection.

Do you have pieces that have been handed down to you that you never wear?  A broken strand of pearls you have never restrung?  A piece that used to be favorite, that now sits languishing in your jewelry box?  Or perhaps a bauble you've been holding on to because it reminds you of a past event, like the earrings you wore as a bridesmaid at your best friend's wedding.  LEO DUO can turn them into a unique statement piece just for you.

Rhonda Haiston will be featuring the LEO DUO Heritage Wedding Necklace on her website.  We look forward to working with Rhonda and her brides, and to creating truly meaningful works of art for brides to wear on their special day...and ever after!

Thanks for coming by to chat with us, Rhonda - we are looking forward to working with you again!

Birthday Bellinis

Holy cannoli!

Holy cannoli!

Brunch today at DeMille's to celebrate Jeannie's birthday (Jennifer's birthday is two days from now).

Sunny patio with friends...and bellinis...and waffles...and bellinis...and omelets...and bellinis...and cannoli...did we mention bellinis?

What a terrific way to spend the morning - this might need to become a new birthday tradition!

Leo Season

We look forward to it every year.  We’re surrounded by them.  Jeannie knows so many (in Minneapolis alone) she used to host an inclusive Leo Party for everyone to celebrate on the same day.  (Who says Leos are self-centered?  We know how to share the spotlight!)

In fact, lions are the only big cat that lives in social groups.  (See?  That explains the logic of having a Leo Party right there!)  Want to know another little bit of trivia about lions?  They are the only members of the cat family to display obvious sexual dimorphism.  (Minds out of the gutter, people!)  It means males and females look distinctly different.  Common for birds (think peacocks, chickens, ducks…), but rare for cats, unique only to the lion.

But while our female counterparts in the animal kingdom may not have a mane to shake around, at LEO DUO we are ready to let our hair down.  Birthdays are coming up, and Leo Season has begun!  Roarrrrr!

Pretty in Purple

LEO DUO just received some photos of the Quinceanera dress we designed!  As you may remember, our client, Danielle, is an accomplished athlete as well as a budding fashionista.  She knew she didn't want a traditional puffy pink ballgown, but even the dresses she liked the modern look of did not fit the proportions of her long torso well - what might be a darling above-the-knee dress on many teens looked like an empire-waisted micro mini on Danielle.  In addition, she would be performing two dance numbers at her party, and it is difficult to waltz (and hip hop) in a short pencil skirt.  LEO DUO to the rescue!

Danielle and each of her attendants wore white sneakers...a tribute to Danielle's sporting accomplishments, and perfect for their hip hop performance!

Our gorgeous client - Happy Birthday!

Our gorgeous client - Happy Birthday!

Working with ideas Danielle brought to the table, here are photos of the finished product.  From the swatches we brought, Danielle selected an oval sequined fabric in a wave pattern.  We turned the fabric on the bias, and reversed it for the other side of the bodice, so the lines of the fabric form a pleasing chevron shape.  We continued the elegant eggplant hue in the skirt, skimming the hips, then flaring out to a dance ready hemline.

Our favorite feature was the hood, which perfectly suits our playful client.  We will bring you those photos soon.  Congratulations again Danielle - you were wonderful to work with, and you look absolutely amazing!

The Perfect Pair

In case any of you out there were wondering what to get one of us for our upcoming birthdays, these babies by Christian Louboutin would do nicely, thank you.  We’re not greedy: we both wear the same size shoe, so we’re even willing to share…
